Day 2: Getting to know Dublin

Today we went to Dublin. We caught the train at 10:15 in the morning and we got off in Connolly Station.

Once there, we divided the children in groups in order to do all the activities planned for today.

They worked with city maps, directions, group leadership,...

We walked through the main streets...

We visited some well-known statues, like James Joyce's and Molly Malone's...

We made an interesting tour in the Trinity College, including The Book of Kells and The Old Library...

We had lunch in St. Stephen's Green, a famous and beautiful park in Dublin...

After lunch, we enjoyed the afternoon doing a Treasure Hunt in the park... Our children did it very well...

And, of course, we took many pictures...

Our children behaved really well, even I must say that some Irish people congratulated the teachers in several places because of our manners, so we are very happy with that.

That's all for today, a great day.

Balbriggan

We have spent the afternoon in Balbriggan. Now our children know well the village where they are going to stay for a week.

We had a a nice walk through its main streets. We showed them the square where we'll meet every morning at 9:30h.

Finally we visited the most beautiful places in Balbriggan: its harbour and the lighthouse; the beach and the Martillo Tower, where we had lunch sitting on a green field and we played some games to get warm.

The weather was really windy and cold, but we could do everything it was planned, so we are very happy with that. And as a fantastic end, we had a hot chocolate in a typical coffee-shop.

Now, time to rest... It has been a long day!!

Meeting the Irish families

2pm. After the flight and a short drive from Dublin airport to Balbriggan we arrived on time to meet the families. They were at the church waiting for us. They introduced themselves to our children, gave them the packed lunch and took the heavy suitcases.

At 5:30pm we met the Irish families again. This time we weren't in a hurry so we could take a chat with them... Then, every child went to their new homes for this week.

Tonight will be a tough moment for our chlidren. They'll have to manage everything by themselves... But we are sure they all will be OK.

Funny flight

Hi there!

In this moment we are flying over Spain... It's being a quite funny flight because of the faces of those who are living their first experience travelling by plane...

There were nerves when we were taking off but now everything is more peaceful; our children are playing cards, listening to music, playing video games or studying some English expressions to say to their Irish families.

We all want to arrive soon to Balbriggan. In a while we'll be there...

In Barajas Airport

We are in Barajas airport and we are very nervous!

Before the flight we have had our breakfast and we did the check-in and passed through police control.

Now we are waiting for the plane. And we are very nervous because it's the first time for many people.

We are playing while we are waiting to the plane. We are also working with our activity books.

Time to fly!!
We can't belive it!!
Next post will be from Ireland!

On the way to Madrid

3am. Everybody was on time at Delicas bus station. Maybe we were a little bit sleepy, but also happy because the trip was going to begin.

This year the suitcases had good sizes, all the students could carry them without any problem.

The bus ride was fine. The most of them slept for a while; others listened to their mp3 players or played some video games.

We arrived on the expected time to Barajas Airport. Tired but glad for beiing there.

The Big Moment is coming!!

Three days left to the trip to Ireland.

I'm very excited about the flight because it will be the first time that I fly and when talking to the family because I'm not sure if I can explain all my feelings.

The suitcase is almost ready and my mother reviews it everyday and a lot of times along the day.

I can't wait to see you all at the bus station at 3 in the morning next Monday.
